12 Mart İstiklâl Marşı'nın Kabulü | The Acceptance of the Turkish National Anthem
West London Turkish School invites our community to a profound ceremony commemorating the acceptance of our magnificent National Anthem, the İstiklâl Marşı, and to honour its poet, the great Mehmet Akif Ersoy.
On March 12, 1921, the İstiklâl Marşı was adopted as the anthem of our nation, giving voice to the spirit of independence, sacrifice, and unyielding faith during the Turkish War of Independence. The powerful words of Mehmet Akif Ersoy are not just a poem; they are the eternal embodiment of our nation's struggle for freedom and its unwavering resolve.
What to Expect:
-
A Choral Recitation: A moving and unified recitation of the İstiklâl Marşı by our entire student body, reflecting on the deep meaning of its verses.
-
Tributes to Mehmet Akif Ersoy: Speeches and presentations about the life, character, and legacy of the "National Poet," highlighting his humility and dedication.
-
Poetry and Music: Performances of Mehmet Akif Ersoy's other poems and reflective music, creating a solemn and inspiring atmosphere.
-
A Moment of Pride: An event that instills a deep sense of national pride and historical consciousness in our students, connecting them to the very soul of Turkey.
This ceremony is more than a history lesson; it is an experience that teaches the values of freedom, sacrifice, and the power of words that shaped a nation.
Join us in honouring the poet who gave us our voice and the anthem that defines our spirit.
